In the eyes of foreigner Ukraine as tourist spot is prospective in the field of cultural and historic heritage. This area confine itself by there ancient cities like Lviv, Kyiv and Kamianets-Podilsky.
But sea-side beaches, pilgrimage to Ukraine and eco-tourism don't regarded by foreigner as a promising. They are partially right, our infrastructure and claim for the local government from the tourist players to rise it on the proper level, don't give us advantage in eco and seaside tourism. Even Carpathian Mountain's private households and business hotel owner are not competitive for the time being against the same on the other side of the border.

European responder have notion that Ukraine is mostly agricultural country - they don't know that Ukraine, though doesn't have space launching site, could produce hundred percent launchable satellites.

Level of cognizance with Ukraine traditions and modern culture or art  happened to become not so high or to be exact rather low. I would like to admit that tons of Ukrainian women rush to Italy in seeking of better life and found jobs as nurse for old Italian ladies and buddies. Our village life attract every ten of responders but don't be so naive our village isn't so ancient and virgin as they think of. Cancer sells of globalisation penetrate there and modern villages aren't so attractive because of lack of possibility to earn money there a lot of villages disappear from the map and in many other you don't hear children's voices, absence of which is first sign of digression.

But we have a modern feature for today some of the neglected farmstead now occupied by freaky eco-settlers, who in attempt to escape from globalization capture dilapidated houses, restore them and try to lead agricultural households.

Some of answerers said that Ukraine is convenient as cheap or affordable resorts. Don't believe them, first of all they are in minority, and secondly Ukrainian infrastructure and service are twin brothers and they disappoint you for sure.

First of all they what us to be democratic country. I agree. I am with them. There is real fear that we could be easy swamp to the dictator's like country like our neighbours. Secondly they want us to be open. We are. And third of all they want us to be economically stable. Don't think so. Today they long for escaping from recession by themselves. Do they have time to think about Ukraine.

There are several thoughts that express members of poll what kind should have country to their mind. They want Ukraine will be safe and affordable for tourist. What kind of affordability they want. Money we are rather cheap, luxury hotels they are expensive as theirs, roads - we build some, bars, cafes, restaurant: there are plenty of them here. Of course in the small or not resorts place foreigner would be like an wild and peculiar animal zoo then the part of society. But it's common situation for every places. Some of them wanna Ukraine will be a member of European Union, I am with you by soul guys, but my nose tells me that we never would be in EU, for several reason. Frankly speaking EU in 2012 have been living not better year. For many of Ukrainian Europe is a patter of better life, for some of us it's a way to escape from the Russian bear who again feel hungry for his former motherland.

Some of foreigner showed desire us to be modern and modernized, I don't understand this. Again I don't understand why some of them state that Ukraine should be hospitable, allegedly we are not. For any of them we are not enough traditional and original, they are right we are stream after globilized world and leave traditionalism and originality only for freak and tour-operators.

Here are some more wishes: cosmopolitan - don't we, in my country cosmpolitism, internationalism and slavic fraternity voices they same person who would like us and them of course to be under Russia. Next wish consonant with previous: independent from Russia, that's my golden dream, but it is impossible in the modern hypocritical world. Third we should be active in developing and using alternative source of energy. What an image appeared behind the foreigner respondents when interviewer said word Ukraine. There was appeared not to much images to my mind, just painted Easter eggs and Petrikiv's painting. In some of the respondents' brain are arisen Carpathian carving and modern Ukrainian art and embroidered shirt or blouse.

Not so much Ukrainian famous people could recall asked foreigner. Italian mention about Andriy Shevcheko, former effective football player, and now in 2012 not successful politician. German said that they well acquainted with Klychko brothers, still effective boxer and by the way on of the brother in 2012 become successful politician.

There are some another components that make public image of contemporary Ukraine. Sporting achievements are on second place of the poll. Yes we have several brilliant sportsman which take fame to Ukraine and distinguish us from Russia for the foreigner. Next are music and national kitchen.

Our fashion industry and healthcare on the rear grade and it's true. I am not expert in fashion and don't care about it, but with health care I encountered from time to time directly or indirectly. We have splendid and hard working doctors here but on the background of total neglect and underpayment of medical sphere Ukraine healthcare isn't the subject to brag away.

What traits do we have on your opinions.

First of all for foreigner Ukraine is agrarian country, and that's is holy true to my mind. Though we have have industry area on the East and high technology plants all over the country, our lands give us advantage in agriculture. Secondly foreigner regard us as religious country. This is partly true, because not all nations go to the church in Sunday, but during the Christmas we celebrate all the holidays and at the East night churchs' squares and surroundings are full of the those who desire their food in the basket to be sprinkled by the priest.

Alas only half of the asked asserts that Ukraine is European country. They forget that geographically the centre of Europe was placed many year ago in Ukraine. But politically of course we are too close to Asia and our good patron Russia. It's sad that politics has so much influence on the geography.

Less that half of responders are sure that Ukraine is in the state of dynamical developing and are attractive for tourists. And finally so less people are sure that Ukraine is safe country. No comments.

That kind of tourism is no mean to foster many good qualities such as nature conservation, cultural understanding and appreciation. In the Soviet Union time that kind of tourism was most popular.
• pilgrimage - Ukraine has plenty of orthodox shrines which are worth to visit.

As foreigner don't hear so much about Ukraine and don't interesting in it that's mean they are rearly discuss Ukraine's matters and that's when they were asked to describe something, for example, ethnic ornament of Ukrainians they display very humble knowledge. From the dozen of the offered trait which supposedly should be endowed we - Ukrainians they mostly prefer to pick up their own facet. And the winner of our virtues appeared: hospitality more the half percent, diligence to the job we are doing again more then half of respondent mark this point, exactly half of respondents took dignity as one of the quality which we have and last but not least a discipline inhabit in Ukrainians according to the notions of the foreigner who were taken part in the pool.

Even among such an sublime educated and extremely busy people it appeared that brand "Ukraine" was not so popular. Alas. More than half never interested by my country or remember just tiny fragments were taken from news. Another small group less than quarter had perfunctory and superficial capacity about Ukraine. And finally we have the third group which is smaller than second one and I don't want to compare it with the first one that showed ground idea about the country which comprise four nuclear power station, one of which made the water bitter and  are hanging likes the sword of Damocles over the Ukraine and Europe. That last group visit Ukraine more or less frequently and members of that part of mankind have habit to be careful during the reading their morning paper when among the zillions of letters appeared capital U and a cluster of small kraine afterwards.

French people exposed worst awareness of Ukraine. Shame on you. Italy citizen who's country lay not so close to Ukraine as Frenchmen and women showed best capacity among the poll: "How well do you know Ukraine?" If you remember there were only bunch of country citizen of whom have an honour to take part in poll about the motherland of Shevchenkos: Great Britain, German and French,  Spain and Italy.

If we regard the age of respondents who well knew Ukraine it appeared that it was middle age people. Nothing strange neither youngsters nor old farts have enough motivation to explore Ukraine.

Authors give very confuse information about sex of respondent who shows best or worst awareness about Ukraine. I lost myself in number however on the earth we have only two sexes. Moreover how to add two numbers I had studied many years ago and had been practising that ability almost every days. Eventually trying to come to the balance between men and women I obtained more than hundred percent who don't have a clue about my dear country and cry far less of that who have sublime good knowledge about Ukraine.

There was some disproportion in gender but not so big. Apparently women were a bit much talkative.

And finally, quantity of questioned were about... any numbers, any numbers,... small village. Not so much, but their opinion help that guys to provide investigation of the subject and create obscure vision about Ukraine.

Authors of poll do want to find for Ukraine establishment and whole Ukrainian society the way to grown up about modern matter of fact. To my humble opinion it's a drop in a bucket but gives us and foreigner space for discussion in order to create truth.
