Kleban-Byk - Regional Landscape Park

Kleban-Byk - Regional Landscape Park in Konstantinovsky region Donetsk region, located on both banks of the river Kryviy Torets and Kleban-Bykskoho reservoir formed by decision of Donetsk Regional Council of 29.02.2000 year № 23/11-256.

In the park open, partly dug and published monuments, some of which show traces of ancient settlement of Donbas Neanderthals and Cro-Magnon during the Middle Paleolithic 150-40 thousand years ago.
On the banks of Kleban-Byk pond found flint arrowheads Copper Age (6-4 thousand years BC), fragments of stone axes Bronze Age (3-2 thousand years BC). Finds of pottery fragments at coastal sites and terraces of modern reservoir indicate that this area was formerly occupied by settlements that date back 2-1 thousand years BC

Name of the park - is a tribute to historical past. This area is closely linked with the history of Zaporizhia Cossack Army and the state - glorious Zaporizhska Sich. Almost from 1500 in the royal charter granted to Army of Zaporizhia Cossack freedom, scientists found the name "valley of river Bychok", from 1600 - Klebina, and from 1720 - Kleban Byk. This means - hollow in the water.

Near the confluence of rivers Bychok and Kryviy face was Cossack’s outpost "Zalizna (Iron)", in the sake of which in our time is named a small village near the city of Dzerzhinsk.

The total area of the regional landscape park is 1974 hectares.

Particular value on the Kleban-Byk Park is reservoir pond with neighboring lands.

The park is not only unique natural complexes and objects, and special recreational conditions identified various picturesque landscapes, the suitability for different types of recreation, accessibility for residents of large settlements.

This area is mountainous in nature, it consists of a rocky ridge, cleavage of rocks with significant density and depth of erosion of branching, large denudation of indigenous breeds that perform whole ridge. Of particular interest is a monument of national significance "Kleban-Byk exposure" area of 60 hectares, the feature is off at the surface is very ancient rocks that formed in the coastal areas of the ancient sea Perm. In the carboniferous period (over 300 million years ago) it was a warm shallow sea, which were at the bottom of invertebrates. Until now there remained traces of unusual vegetation. Fossil remains of plants, corals, mollusks can be found on the left bank of the reservoir precipice.

Rich also the animal world: near the lake, its banks live turtles, lizards, frogs, the world has about 100 bird species in the water is conducted nearly 20 species of fish.

In the regional landscape park is an open-air museum «petrified forest», which are fragments of fossil wood remnants araucaria age 300 million years. These fragments found on arable land Konstantinovsky area (Ivanopilska, Predtechynska and Katerynivska village council).

Park provided recreational services: maintenance trips, organize short rest, sports and amateur fishing.
